When I started qulting, I knew-nothing at all. I've never sewn before and I didn't own a sewing machine. My first 6 weeks hands on course got me hooked. It's been about 15 years and I still take courses from "experts".

What I am trying to say, you'll never know if you can write well unless you get serious about it by taking classes from people that succeeded. It could be one of many expenses but you'll find out if you have what it takes or even if this is the road you want to take. Learning costs money...

Absolutely, I'm all about investing in learning! As I mentioned, I'm already enrolled in 3 other courses either on-going or coming up. :) Thanks for your comment, quilting sounds fun!

This is a really tricky one - you obviously communicate honestly with each other, but he does sound like a bit of a tit. Do you respect his opinions? I wonder if there are courses out there run by people you might respect more? Or maybe his bluntness is part of the appeal!? It’s such a subjective thing.

For sure. Would my money be better spent on learning from people who align better with my values? It's a long journey, I don't want to react to FOMO.

Made it to end. Not sure. Mike didn't buy bot subscribers, he got a bug chance from a Twitter series that went viral. It seems to me like he is a big player but looks down on other people. What to make of this? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, I didn't understand your goal: Do you want feedback for your novel or for growing your newsletter?

I know https://twitter.com/Mikeachim/status/1491080740586782720 Mike is super cool and very interested in things, which I love! (That post was so cool and so synchronous because I know someone else who had a viral thread on exactly the same thing! https://twitter.com/tomaspueyo/status/1649108425245065219)

I didn't appreciate the negativity, but understand he's doing some things right to have gotten where he is, so there are things to be learned.

At the moment, I'm thinking about the newsletter and writing for digital, but that's where I plan to publish my novel eventually, so it's all intertwined. Thanks so much for your input!
