I love reading about your travels and experiences. All the stories 😊.
We went to China by a special invitation when Gerry was working. On one of the “special “ dinners, we were served a turtle soup. The turtle was whole, stuffed and immersed in the bowl of soup except for his head and front legs. They were on the rim of the bowl and the poor turtle was looking at me with his little eyes. Yes, we had to eat the soup and the turtle. It would be a terrible insult if we didn’t……
I appreciate your kindness. And courage to share some truths about these beings whose reality is hidden from or ignored by almost all the people (at least in the US) who eat them.
What if we drank almond milk? And ate lab grown meat? That does not need to be killed.
Seems important to make our decisions from a place of knowledge and honesty.
It's just not that simple is it? To say I would or I wouldn't eat dog without having ever been in that situation or having a full appreciation of context. Your writing gave me a good sense of all the moral, ethical and social implications of this decision.
This post has really got me thinking.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, it intrigues the hell outta me
I know the feeling! We are becoming more and more vegan by the day. It’s just too unrealistic and unnecessary to keep going the way we are.
Vegan is hard! I do love cheese!!
Was hard to kick but now I’m not phased by it. Just another addiction.

Oh my god, that sounds awful! But in the moment, you want to be polite, right? Wow, thanks for sharing that and for your encouragement! 🙏
Thank you Shoni.

Thanks Dawn. I don't know if it's kindness but I try to do what I think is best when I can. And share with honesty.
